A survey has started for regular night-time flights at the Bhadrapur airport in Jhapa.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started survey for installation of lights and instruments along the runway for night flights, Bhadrapur Airport’s Chief Purna Chudal said. The necessary Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) is being prepared for the night time flying.
Currently aircrafts are landing and taking off from 5000 meters at the airport. After the introduction of the IFR technology the flights will be able to do so from 1700 meters.
Chudal added that the airport plans to complete the installation of instruments and signals under the IFR within the next three months and start night time flights from the onset of Dashain festival. The Buddha Airlines has already carried out a test flight for the night-time flights.
