Dhankuta tense, police fire tear gas to contain protesters

Dhankuta denizens on Thursday took to the streets to protest the government's decision of declaring Biratnagar as the temporary capital of Province 1. They set fire on various regional offices, division offices and other government offices Thursday morning. District Police Office, Dhankuta said that clash ensued between protesters and police at the main junction of Dhankuta as protesters pelted stones at police. Despite firing several rounds of tear gas to contain the protesters, the situation is not yet under control.
