The President's Office has started preparations in a way to administer oath of office to the seven provincial chiefs on Friday.
The President's Office has started preparations to hold the swearing-in ceremony on Friday instead of waiting till Sunday as Saturday is public holiday. "We have not taken formal decision. But we feel it is better to do it tomorrow than wait till Sunday," a source at the President's Office told Setopati.
The source added that swearing-in ceremony will be held on Friday also because there will be problem in preparing the voter list for National Assembly election by the Election Commission (EC) if it were held only on Sunday.
The President administers oath of office to provincial chiefs who act as the President's representative in the respective provinces. The provincial chiefs then administer oath of office to provincial assembly members in the respective provinces.
The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday had appointed Govinda Subba as chief of Province 1, Ratneshwore Lal Kayastha Province 2, Anuradha Koirala Province 3, Baburam Kunwar Province 4, Umakant Jha Province 5, Durga Keshar Khanal Province 6 and Mohan Raj Malla Province 7.
