'40 percent people lack access to electricity'

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Kamal Thapa has said that 40 percent people in the country are still deprived of electricity supplies. Speaking at a news conference organized in Kanchanpur Sunday, Thapa said that the government was working with the target to provide electricity supplies to every household within five years. The government is preparing to develop 17,000-MW power in a decade and the Province No 7 has immense potentials for hydropower generation, the Deputy Prime Minister said. Thapa also shared that development of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project will complete within nine months now. On a different context, Thapa, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), said that party's failure to file nomination for the candidacy in the elections to the House of Representatives was a blunder. He also said that party's major agenda would be establishment of the Hindu State.
