Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will announce resignation while addressing the nation.
"PM Deuba plans to step down from the post as soon as the Election Commission (EC) submits its final results of election to the House of Representatives to the President," Nepali Congress spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said.
PM Deuba, according to Sharma, will declare his resignation while addressing the nation.
Stating that the NC government was successful in conducting three-tiers of elections as mentioned in the new Constitution as per the commitment made during the government formation, Sharma further said that PM Deuba will address the nation to announce his resignation.
He also informed that the time could not be fixed as PM will only address the nation once EC submits the results to President.
Meanwhile, EC has geared up for furnishing the poll results to the President today itself.
EC will submit the final results to President if the political parties submit their closed list of proportional representation (PR) system to the EC by 5 pm today, said EC Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.
Deuba was elected as the 40th PM on June 6, 2017 securing 388 votes out of the 593 lawmakers in the parliament in the election that had no other candidate.
