Provincial assembly member of CPN-UML from Mugu (B) of Province 6 Chandra Bahadur Shahi will resign after not being appointed a minister.
Stating that he has been humiliated by the party during formation of provincial government, he has flown to Kathmandu from Surkhet on Monday with a resignation letter. Shahi, who is also a central advisor to the party, said he will submit the resignation letter at the party’s central office in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu to quit the post of lawmaker and party membership.
He has accused the party of selling the Cabinet posts. “I am not satisfied with the decision taken by a handful of UML leaders in course of government formation,” he told Setopati. “I am resigning as the party paid attention to contractors, INGO operators, and even lawmakers who have recently joined the party from RPP while forming the government,” he stated.
He was elected central member from the eighth general convention of the party. He has served for 15 years as Mugu president of UML. He was the first UML candidate to be elected to the parliament from Mugu after winning the general election in 1999.
