Former chief justice Sushila Karki has slammed the Sher Bahadur Deuba government saying it only promoted crooks.
Karki, who saw impeachment motion registered by Deuba-led Nepali Congress (NC) and coalition partner CPN (Maoist Center) in April, 2017, said so speaking in a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday. The impeachment motion was registered after the Supreme Court (SC) revoked appointment of Deuba's pick for IGP of Nepal Police Jai Bahadur Chand.
She also claimed that the incidents of rape are increasing in the country under government protection. She took exception to the fact that the police and administration are trying to settle grave crime like rape under financial influence.
She stressed that the police must remain vigilant to prevent incidents of rape. She also urged the victims to take initiative for the sake of justice.
She also opined that the problem of human rights abuse will be resolved if the government were to act with integrity.
