Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli will now expand his Cabinet only on Sunday due to the high number of aspirants for ministerial posts inside CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center).
UML and Maoist Center have already agreed on sharing of ministries with UML set to keep 10 ministries and Maoist Center seven. But both the parties are struggling to manage a large number of aspiring leaders.
Chief advisor to PM Oli Bishnu Rimal said the Cabinet will be expanded by Sunday.
Maoist Center leader Ram Bahadur Thapa confirmed that the party has yet to decide on the lawmakers to send to the government. "The Cabinet will not be expanded today. The party has yet to select the ministers," Thapa told Setoapti.
UML will get finance and planning; foreign; defense; physical infrastructure and transportation; federal affairs and general administration; information and communication; law, justice and parliamentary affairs; tourism, education and sports; and health and population ministries, as per the agreement with Maoist Center.
Maoist Center, meanwhile, will get home; water resources and energy; industry, commerce and supplies, urban development, housing and sanitation; forest and environment; agriculture, cooperatives and land management; labor, employment and women and children ministries.
Maoist Center is struggling to decide about home minister with Ram Bahadur Thapa, Barsha Man Pun and Kanardan Sharma all claiming for the ministry.
Pradeep Gyawali and Ishwore Pokharel of UML, meanwhile, are both vying for the finance ministry.
