Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected parliamentary party leader.
Deuba garnered 44 votes in the voting that took place from 10 am on Monday, informed Election Committee Coordinator Chin Kaji Shrestha. Former NC general secretary Prakash Man Singh received a total of 19 votes.
Former Prime Minister Deuba and central committee member Singh were the only ones to file nominations. Deuba is from the establishment side, while Singh represents the camp of senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel.
NC has 63 members in the 275-strong House of Representatives.
