Deuba picks Gachchhadar as deputy leader of NC parliamentary party

Nepali Congress (NC) President and parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has appointed Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar as deputy leader on Monday.

Deuba, who was elected parliamentary party leader earlier on the day defeating former NC general secretary Prakash Man Singh, has nominated Gachchhadar as the deputy leader, NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma confirmed with Setopati. The party’s statute allows parliamentary party leader to appoint deputy leader.

Gachchhadar, who had quit NC on February 1, 2008, had returned back to the party on October 16, 2017. He was elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Sunsari.

Gachchaadar had also proposed Deuba’s candidacy for the post of parliamentary party leader on Sunday.
