The meeting between CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has decided to hold the meeting of the coordination committee for unification on Tuesday.
The two leaders after a one-on-one meeting that continued for over three hours at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar Monday morning have decided to convene the coordination committee meeting to fine-tune party unification scheduled for the next week, according to press coordinator of Dahal Bishnu Sapkota.
Dahal, who had gone to Sukute in Sindhupalchowk to take rest on Sunday, returned back on Monday and reached Baluwatar at 10:30 in the morning to meet PM Oli.
The parties have already decided to announce unification on April 22 to mark the establishment of the first communist party in Nepal around seven decades ago. But they have yet to agree on the issues including representation at the top level of the party, election symbol and inclusion of the term 'People's War' in the party statute among others.
The two leaders reportedly discussed on these issues in the meeting today. There were reports about the meeting of the two leaders a week ago but that did not materialize.
