SC issues show cause notice in registration of CPN

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued show cause notice to CPN and the Election Commission in relation to registration of the party despite lack of one-third female representation in the central committee. A single bench of Justice Anil Sinha on Sunday has instructed the CPN to answer why it has not ensured one-third female representation in central committee. The Apex Court has also asked the EC why it registered the CPN even when it does not have one-third women in the central committee. The SC has given the party and the EC 15 days to reply. Senior advocate Surendra Bhandari, advocate Indu Tuladhar and others had moved the SC on June 14 demanding that registration of the party should not be recognized as the party has not ensured one-third female representation in the central committee.
