Former CEC Neel Kantha Uprety recommended for ambassador to India


The government has recommended former chief election commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety for ambassador to India.

Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali told Setopati that the Cabinet meeting on Monday has recommended Uprety’s name for the position.

The previous ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay had resigned to contest elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) on a Nepali Congress (NC) ticket.

The Cabinet has also recommended former ambassador to Saudi Arabia Uday Raj Pandey for the position of ambassador to Malaysia.
