Former Minister and spokesperson of the Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma has been arrested by the police.
He was arrested from Kathmandu Tuesday night, according to a police source. His personal secretary Man Bahadur Shrestha and driver Harish Chandra Acharya have also been arrested.
He has been arrested, the police source added, to investigate the charges of fomenting violence during the local and general elections last year, and extortion. The police said documents recovered from Bishwokarma show that he had extorted Rs 70 million.
Politburo member of the then Maoist party, Bishwokarma was a minister in the Jhala Nath Khanal government.
