The government has guaranteed employment for 100 days to each family.
Speaking at the meeting of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Welfare Committee of the parliament on Wednesday, Secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security Mahesh Prasad Dahal said one member of a family without a single employed member will be provided a minimum of 100 days of work per annum.
He said the government has prepared a working procedure guaranteeing a minimum of 100 days of work in construction, non-governmental or other sectors for each family. The working procedure, however, has yet to be endorsed by the Cabinet.
The government will conduct the employment program by signing agreements with the local and provincial governments, and other professional organizations. The government will contribute half of the minimum wage fixed by the government to remunerate those getting employment under the scheme.
The government has allocated Rs 3.25 billion in the current fiscal year for the scheme.
