The hearing of Navin Kumar Ghimire recommended for chief commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) will be conducted on Thursday.
The Constitutional Council had recommended Ghimire for the vacant post and sent his name to the
Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee for endorsement. The committee had invited complaints against Ghimire giving a 10-day window. But not a single complaint has been registered against him, according to the parliament secretariat.
He was appointed CIAA commissioner four years ago following his retirement from civil service after serving as secretary. He had reached for hearing in a white suit then. He had promised during the hearing that he will not allow any stain on his image as impeccable as that white suit while at CIAA.
He was one of the five commissioners recommended to the CIAA then and had not faced a single complaint even then. He was appointed CIAA commissioner on quota of the then CPN-UML.
The position was vacant since retirement of Deep Basnet on February 13. He will serve as CIAA chief commissioner for two years if endorsed by the parliamentary special committee.
