'Speed up post-quake reconstruction'

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari Friday directed the authorities concerned to speed up post-quake reconstruction. He also insisted the authorities to expedite the reconstructions in line with the archaeological standards set by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. He also said the ministry would take initiation to expedite the reconstruction of Chaughera Sattal and Changunarayan Temple, and stressed the need for promoting tourism in Bhaktapur to raise lifestyle of the local people. The minister was speaking at a puja program organized at the Changunarayan Temple by the preservation and protection of monuments office of the Department of Archaeology. On the occasion, secretary of the ministry Krishna Prasad Devkota said efforts were on to complete the reconstructions soon. Director General of the Department Dr Bhesh Narayan Dahal said the reconstructions were facing problems for want of adequate woods.
