Chiefs of the local bodies across the country have been invited with their spouses to Kathmandu on Sunday to seek blessings from co-founder of Universal Peace Federation Hak Ja Han Moon in the ongoing Asia Pacific Summit.
“They have invited us as the best couple,” Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Bhim Parajuli said. “We have not done anything to become the best couple. How can we become the best? They have made phone calls 7-8 times even after we received the invitation. I gave an excuse saying we have other works.”
Mayor of Gurbhakot municipality of Surkhet Hasta Pun has also received similar invitation. “They had also phoned. I said I don’t have time,” Pun told Setopati. Mayor of Gorkha municipality Rajan Raj Panta confirmed that he was also invited to come along with his wife. “They also phoned me four-five times,” Panta said.
Mayor of Kirtipur municipality Ramesh Maharjan told Setopati that blessings of people suffice for him and he will not go to seek blessings from a religious organization. “I won’t attend such programs,” Maharjan said.
Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan said he has received an invitation stating that the program starts at one Sunday afternoon and a dinner banquet in the evening. “The invitation stated that the program will run until dinner. I will not go,” he said.
Mayor of Butwam Sub-metropolitan City Shiva Subedi said he will not attend the program even though he is currently in Kathmandu for other works.
Co-founder Moon is scheduled to bless married and soon-to-be-married couples Sunday in the program organized by the Nepal chapter of missionary organization Universal Peace Federation. Prime minister, ministers and lawmakers have also been invited in the program.
Making marriage and family relations stronger is one of the objectives of the summit being held in Kathmandu.
Moon and her co-founder husband Sun Myung Moon have earlier blessed married and soon-to-be-married couples in different cities across the globe.
