A joint meeting of the two committees under the House of Representatives including Finance, and the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources scheduled for Tuesday could not convene due to lack of a quorum.
Only 13 members from the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee and nine from the Finance committee reached for the meeting. At least 26 members were required to be present for a meeting so that it could officially begin.
The joint meeting summoned for 11 am was put off at 12:30 pm.
Former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai who availed himself for the meeting left the meeting venue after a long wait for other members.
The meeting was said to take accounts of stakeholders in regard with the sale of the construction license of the Upper Marsyangdi-2 hydropower project by the Indian company GMR to a Chinese company.
Finance Committee president Krishna Prasad Dahal said as most of committee members could not be present for the meeting as they are presently out of the Kathmandu Valley for several affairs.
