Chief Minister (CM) of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has said he feels privileged to get to visit Janakpur.
"I feel privileged to get the opportunity to do puja in Janakpurdham and visit the land of King Janak on the auspicious occasion of Vivaha Panchami," CM Adityanath, who arrived in Janakpur leading the wedding procession of Lord Ram
, wrote on the visitors' book.
A wedding procession of lord Ram arrives in Janakpur from Ayodhya, India on the day of Vivaha Panchami every year to mark the wedding of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita in Janakpur in Treta epoch, as per the Hindu mythology.
He said that the lives of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita form an integral part of religion and culture of both the countries.
He arrived in Janakpur on a private plane from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. CM of Province 2 Lal Babu Raut, speaker and deputy speaker of the provincial assembly, and Cabinet members welcomed him at the airport.
He attended the lunch banquet hosted by the government of Province 2 after completing puja at the Janaki Temple.
He is scheduled to return back to Lucknow at around six in the evening.
Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli had invited his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to Janakpur for Vivaha Panchami. Modi could not come due to his busy schedule and sent Adityanath as his representative instead.
