Nepal Congress (NC) will have 11 office-bearers including a president, two vice-presidents, three general secretaries, four deputy general secretaries and one treasurer, a central committee member told Setopati.
There are currently only five office-bearers in the party including the president.
The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction and that of senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel have long had disagreements on increasing the number of office-bearers. The Paudel faction has been demanding that the total number of office-bearers be raised to 11 while Deuba was insisting it should not be increased until recently.
The leaders have reached an agreement after NC President Deuba showed flexibility in increasing the number of office-bearers during the meeting Monday evening.
But only four of them including the president, a vice-president, a general secretary, and a treasurer will be elected directly by the general convention. All four deputy general secretaries will be nominated through inclusion quota. One vice-president and two general secretaries will be selected by the central committee, according to the central committee member.
The central committee meeting will be held on Tuesday to take a final decision on the number of office-bearers. The central committee will send the proposal to mahasamiti meeting where the statute will be amended accordingly.
