The Lalitpur Metropolitan City on Friday has formed a 12-member team of experts to expedite the metropolis' works.
The team comprises former ministers as well as secretaries. The former Women, Children and Social Welfare Minister and Tourism Secretary Ridhi Baba Pradhan has been appointed as social defense expert. Meanwhile, the metropolis has appointed former secretaries Tirtha Man Shrestha and Bharat Bahadur Thapa as policy and procedure, and institutional development experts respectively.
Rohit Kumar Ranjitkar has been assigned to heritage conservation.
It has also appointed experts including Binod Sijapati in economic development, Prafulla Man Singh Pradhan in urban planning and management, lecturer in TU Dr Kedar Lal Shrestha in education, Padma Krishna Shrestha in sports. Similarly, journalist Kanak Mani Dixit has been appointed information technology and social media expert.
The metropolis has started the first phase discussion with the team of experts. According to Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan, the team of experts has been formed to make the exercising of rights owned by local levels easier.
"It would be convenient to act on the suggestions provided by experts in finding the metropolis' necessities and its problems which will further make decision-making easier," Maharjan told Setopati, "We're willing to work as per the team's suggestions and support."
The metropolitan city has said that experts on some other significant sectors including agriculture are yet to be appointed.
The experts will work pro bono starting from Monday.
