An unidentified group on Friday hurled bombs at the motorcade of left alliance candidate and minister without portfolio Janardan Sharma and his publicity team.
The group attacked hurled two bombs in Goiri of Chaurjahari municipality-8.
According to police, they were attacked when they were heading toward Simli of Sanibheri municipality after wrapping up their election publicity campaign at Chaurjahari.
"Assailants attacked the vehicle carrying Janardan Sharma," a participant in the publicity team told Setopati. He, however, said that nobody was harmed in the incident.
Sharma said that the assailants have attacked by targeting his vehicle. "Although they attacked targeting my vehicle, no harm was caused due to the security personnel," he added.
District Police Office, Rukum (West) chief DSP Rajendra Prasad Dhamala said investigation into the case is underway, and search operation for those involved in the attack has been launched. He suspected the involvement of cadres of Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand in the attack.
Meanwhile, UML-CPN (Maoist Center) Unity Coordination Committee Rukum (West) has strongly criticized the attack on its candidate and the publicity team. Issuing a press statement on Friday, it said that the attack on the candidate is against the nation's development and prosperity.
