The Indian side has obstructed the construction of Gaddachauki-Brahmadev road linking the northern belt of Kanchanpur.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has disrupted the blacktopping of the road nearby Nepal-India border pillar 809 (5 'A') on the issue of hum pipe.
The dispute ensued when the armed BSF put pressure on removing the hume pipe that was placed to give water outlet from the road. BSF claimed that the territory where the road is being constructed is in India.
Locals said the obstruction to the road construction caused by BSF has put the works on hold now.
Chief District Officer Kumar Bahadur Khadka said that they were aware of the halt of the construction works after the BSF obstruction. "The construction will continue after holding the joint meeting with the Indian side".
Last year, a Nepali national was shot dead by Indian BSF in Punarbas municipality of Kanchanpur over a dispute on a culvert.
