Security has been tightened in Bhojpur district after the vehicle carrying CPN-UML’s candidate for the State Assembly election came under a bomb attack on November 14.
An all-party meeting convened in the district headquarters on Wednesday decided to further beef up the security in the district. Former ministers, candidates, the district-based political parties and the district security committee made an assessment of the security situation in view of the upcoming election.
The meeting also decided to increase the number of bodyguards of the election candidates. As per this decision, the meeting has deputed bodyguards for Rajendra Kumar Rai, candidate toward the State Assembly election from Bhojpur (A) constituency and for Sudan Kiranti, the candidate for the House of Representatives election. Both candidates are from the left alliance.
Similarly, bodyguards have been assigned to the democratic alliance’s candidate for the House of Representatives election, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi and State Assembly election candidate from Bhojpur (A) constituency Ajambar Rai Kangmang and State Assembly constituency (B) candidate Govinda Bahadur Karki, according to Chief District Officer Chet Raj Baral.
