It will now take a month for the constitution amendment bill to be endorsed in the Legislature-Parliament. The Parliament Secretariat has informed that it would take a minimum 15 days for a bill to complete all its process.

"After tabling the bill in the House, it needs to be published for the information of general people. The bill then will be put for theoretical discussion and it will take around a month to complete the whole procedure including amendment," said spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Bharatraj Gautam.

Gautam stressed the need of forging consensus among the political parties on the overall processes of the constitution amendment bill as it is different from other bills.

He further informed that the bill will be put for theoretical discussion within 3 days of tabling it in the House. According to him, political parties will finalize whether to discuss the bill by forming a special committee or directly put it in the House to discuss.

Meanwhile, as per the constitutional provisions, the Parliament Secretariat today issued a notice about the amendment bill to inform public.

According to an article 274 (3) of the constitution, the amendment bill has to be published for public information within a month of tabling it in the House.

The government on Sunday had tabled the constitution amendment bill amid the nine opposition parties including UML's protest.
