The Communist Party of Nepal (United) is to file its candidacy in the local level election from 21 districts of the country.

The party has decided to contest in the election from limited districts only as it does not have its organizational network in all the districts, it is stated.

Party Chairman Ganesh Saha said considering the party's latest organizational base his party would not file candidacy from any of the places in Province 6.

He said the party is drafting the election manifesto keeping topics as creating corruption-free society, justice based on equality and respect to the citizens among others in priority. The manifesto will also focus on creating employment opportunities at the local level to address the unemployment problem and building an environment-friendly society.

The party has formed a central election mobilization committee under the coordination of party chairman Saha. Similarly, such mobilization committees have been formed under the coordination of the party district chairpersons in the districts from where it is contenting in the election.

The party is planning to hold election campaign in the districts from where it is giving candidacy and it has hinted at the possibility of electoral alliance with like-minded 'progressive leftist democratic forces'. RSS

  • Effect of monetary policy on risk, stability and financial crises Effect of monetary policy on risk, stability and financial crises

The crisis of 2008–09 has reignited a new interest in understanding money and credit fluctuations in the macro economy, and the crucial roles they could play in the amplification, propagation, and generation of shocks both in normal times and, even more so, in times of financial distress. This may reopen a number of fundamental fault lines in modern macroeconomic thinking between theories that treat the financial system as irrelevant, or, at least, not central to the understanding of economic outcomes, and those that reserve a central role for financial intermediation.
