A woman has been rescued from being trafficked to India at the border transit at Krishnanagar here.
KI Nepal, a local organization working in the prevention of human trafficking, rescued the 19-year-old woman from the Nepal-India border at Krishnanagar on Tuesday while she was going to Balrampur of India. She is from Buddhabhumi municipality of Kapilvastu district.
Keshar Bishwakarma, the district coordinator of KI Nepal, said the woman was going to India on her own without any reason and they intercepted her at the border.
According to Bishwakarma, the woman said that she was going to India in search of work and to escape her drunkard father's abuse at home. KI Nepal has sent the woman to its rehabilitation center in Chitwan.
