Sub-inspector at the Area Police Office, Sukkhad has been suspended for refusing to file a complaint on Thursday's incident in which a 17-year-old girl was beaten on accusation of practicing witchcraft.
Radha Chaudhari of Ghodaghodi municipality-5 of Kailali was beaten on Thursday.
The Area Police Office, Sukkhad refused to register the complaint when the relatives of victim reached there to file the complaint demanding action against the perpetrators. Chief of the police station Sub Inspector Dinesh Bista was suspended on Sunday after revelations that he settled the case instead of filing the complaint, spokesperson at Nepal Police DIG Manoj Neupane informed Setopati.
"The main accused of the incident witch doctor Ram Bahadur Chaudhari and his beloved Kismati Chaudhari have been arrested. Additional investigations have been launched," Neupane said.
Police settled the case and released Ram Bahadur Chaudhari on Thursday itself.
After widespread criticism of the incident, the police have begun necessary investigations by arresting Ram Bahadur Chaudhari. Kismati was also arrested on Saturday night.
Mayor of Ghodaghodi municipality Mamata Prasad Chaudhari had also reached police office to release the main accused Ram Bahadur Chaudhari.
Police further said that they are intensifying search for some people involved in beating Radha Chaudhari.
