Police have arrested five people for allegedly raping a 15-year-old in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur for 12 days.
Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has made public the five accused including Bhola Tamang, Chandra Bahadur Sapkota, Santosh Ghimire, Diwas Gadtaula and Sudip Bajgain. A rape case has been lodged against them and investigation has been initiated.
The teenager went missing from Balkhu on March 1.
Her mother had filed a police complaint after she went missing. She was then found at Swoyambhu on March 12. Police initiated further investigation after the victim started crying, murmuring and became afraid.
Police informed that she rode on the Ringroad-bound bus (Ba 4 Kha 3851) on March 1 after which she was allegedly raped by the bus driver Santosh Ghimire at a Basundhara-based garage. According to police, co-driver Diwas Gadtaula too had allegedly raped her on that day.
Ghimire locked her at a room in Harisiddhi in the evening of March 2 and held her in captivity there for six days.
DSP Mohan Thapa informed that the girl was found by a co-driver of another bus Sudip Bajagain and was again raped when she escaped from Harisiddhi on March 8.
Santosh Ghimire on March 11 made her travel on the Satdobato-Ringroad bound bus (Ba 2 Kha 4195) where one of the passengers Bhola Tamang and co-driver Chandra Sapkota also raped her after reaching a Swoyambhu-based garage.
The victim was released on March 12 after her health started to deteriorate and gave her a birth control pill and Rs 250 at Swoyambhu.
