At least 10 persons including seven police personnel and three office-bearers have been injured in a clash at Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara on Monday.
As many as 20 protesters have been arrested for alleged vandalism at the hospital, said Kaski Police Chief SP Ashok Singh.
The injured police personnel are taken to Fishtail Hospital for further treatment. Singh informed that the glass windows in the second story of the hospital has been broken and the dean office has also been vandalized. The office-bearers have been agitating demanding increment in remuneration and prompt implementation of permanent position from the past six months. They have been staging sit-ins in front of the hospital administration.
Meanwhile, the protesting office-bearers said the police have intervened while staging sit-ins and while the police have accused them of obstructing essential service like health.
Among the injured police personnel are police constable Bipin Thapa Magar, Govinda Roj Koti, Gam Bahadur Thapa, Roop Lal Thapa, Yamuna Raj Koti, Anjana Gharti and Tulasa Pokharel.
The injured office-bearers are Raj Bahadur Gharti, Karna Bahadur KC and Amar Gurung. They sustained head and neck injuries in the incident.
District Police Office, Kaski has said it has arrested a total of 20 office-bearers including Employee Union Manipal Chairman Navaraj Bhandari.
