“The bakery café started with the support of Japan’s Ajinomoto Foundation from January 15 prepares bread, five different kinds of cakes including croissant, cream roll, banana bread, pastry, pizza, burger, puff, and bun, among others,” said Hitesh Rai, a 17-year-old involved in bakery.
“We also prepare birthday cakes here. One pound cake costs Rs 750. We prepare other items as per the customers’ orders.”
Rai, who received bakery training three months ago in Kathmandu, expressed his happiness at being employed in his village.
The café has also eased students’ parents. “We’ve started the café at school to ensure an environment where students get healthy foods to eat during the school hours,” YouMe School’s staffer Saraswati Rai said, “The school has a total of 195 persons including students, staffers and other office-bearers. Most of us eat bakery items. Only those who dislike bakery items bring foods from home.”
