The 28 accused sent to judicial custody by the Morang District Court in the case of smuggling of 33 kilograms of gold and murder of Sanam Shakya are likely to be sent to the regional jail in Jhumka. They will be sent to Jhumka due to lack of space in the Morang Jail.
They are currently kept in the cell of District Police, Morang in lack of space in the Morang Jail. The police are waiting for court order to take them to Jhumka.
The main accused in the case Chuda Mani Uprety, aka Gore, has been produced before the court for recording statement.
The bench of District Judge Narayan Prasad Sharma on Tuesday sent the 28 accused to judicial custody, granted bail to one and released another on date.
The issue of 33 kilograms of gold smuggled through the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on January 23 came to the fore after the body of Shakya of Urlabari, who died while being tortured on charge of stealing that gold, was recovered in Biratnagar on March 2.
