The main accused of smuggling of 33 kilograms of gold and murder of Sanam Shakya, has denied the charges leveled against him.
Chuda Mani Uprety (aka Gore), who was arrested in Kathmandu on Tuesday, giving his statement to the Morang District Court on Wednesday has claimed he is not a gold smuggler and he did not murder Sanam Shakya.
Gore has claimed that the plot was hatched to implicate him in the murder of Shakya, according to a court source.
A bench of District Judge Narayan Prasad Sharma started recording Gore's statement in a closed room Wednesday morning. The recording of statement has ended for the day and it will again resume Thursday morning.
Gore, who is in police custody, has appealed to be kept under watch of human right activists citing security threats after recording of his statement was not completed today.
