Normal life across the country including Kathmandu Valley has been affected due to incessant rainfall since Wednesday.
Three persons died in Changunarayan-7, Bhaktapur when a hillock swept away their house Thursday morning. Hira Bahadur Lama, 70, his wife Pan Maya, 65, and their granddaughter Sampada, two, were killed when their hut was swept away while they were sleeping, according to Bhaktapur Police.
Many places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur have been inundated due to swollen Bagmati and Hanumante rivers. Bhaktapur and Madhyapur Thimi have been inundated with water of Hanumante river spilling over. Water has entered into hundreds of houses while the river water has also entered settlements in Jagati and Barahi. All the settlements in Radeh Rade and Kamerotar of Bhaktapur have been inundated.
Bhat Bhateni Super Market outlet in Radhe Radhe and the building of Samsung Company there have also been inundated. Places in Bhaktapur are up to four feet under water. Shops and businesses in Bhaktapur have been shut down. The details of material loss have yet to arrive.
Settlements on either side of Arniko Highway at Madhyapur Thimi have been inundated. The way to Balkot from Chardobato and the low-lying areas of Gatthaghar have also been inundated.
The area around Madhyapur Hospital is also under water, according to the locals. The settlement of squatters in Jadibuti has also been inundated due to the swollen Hanumante river.
