Police have resumed arresting jaywalkers in Kathmandu Valley.
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has brought a new rule of releasing the jaywalkers after giving them required class.
"Traffic personnel have been deputed at the various locations of the Valley including in Koteshowr, Thimi, New Baneshowr, Thapathali, Old Buspark, Singha Durbar, Keshar Mahal, Gaushala, Maharajgunj, Kalimati and Jawalakhel of Lalitpur," informed chief at MTPD SP Basanta Pant.
"We've brought such system in the first phase to aware the pedestrians and to deter them from crossing the road from wherever they want," Pant said, "We will release them after giving them class on the street itself."
Earlier, the MTPD from May 30 had started to detain the pedestrians for three hours and were slapped with a fine of Rs 200. Later, the rule was removed after 15 days.
