The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division will start lane management program from Jadibuti to Jagati from Tuesday.
Chief of the division SSP Basanta Panta said the program will be operated with an aim of minimizing accidents. He said only public transportation vehicles will use one lane while private, government and diplomatic vehicles will use the other lane. One will be allowed to stop vehicles only at a few selected places.
The division has started to detain jaywalkers and release them only after training them since Sunday. The program has been started to sensitize the pedestrians, according to traffic police.
The traffic police had started to detain jaywalkers for three hours and slap a fine of Rs 200 from May 30 last year. But the rule was revoked after 15 days.
