Ratnanagar municipality in Chitwan will provide financial assistance for the education of those from backward Musahar and Majhi communities.
A meeting of the municipality decided to finance their education up to Master's Degree, said the Municipality Mayor Narayan Ban. "It has been informed that just one or two people from the communities have passed Plus two. Now the municipality will finance their higher education," he said. Likewise, the meeting has decided to provide Rs 5,000 each to landless students to pay for their tuition fees for higher education.
On an occasion, Mayor Ban assured Amir Majhi and Sanjaya Majhi, both at Grade 11, of the assistance. Both had visited the municipality to receive the facility. "I've heard that the municipality will finance the education of people from Majhi and Musahar communities. So I have come here to claim the facility," said Sanjaya.
"In the future, I want to become a teacher so I can educate the poor people," she added.
