An interactive program entitled “Nepal-Japan Dialogue Series” was successfully concluded on August 11 at Tokyo, Japan.
As many as 70 Nepali intellectuals representing various arenas including teaching and research in Japan took part in the program that was chaired by Ambassador of Nepal to Japan Prativa Rana.
Speaking in the program, Dr Netra Prakash Bhandari, associate professor at Ehime University in Japan, highlighted on the current development models of Nepal, their weakness and their challenges along with the statistics.
Chief guest Prativa Rana expressed her happiness at the presence of Nepali intellectuals in Japan and said that such programs should be prioritized by the Nepali embassy.
Similarly, the Director of CITYNET, Kendra Barua put light on the flaws on the methodological part of the policy and implementation.
Meanwhile, Dilip Khatiwada, the visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo and Assistant Professor, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, presented a Brazilian model as one that could be used to disburse dividends in a bid to encourage numerous farmers in modernization of agriculture.
Professor at Tokyo City University, Dr Hom Bahadur Rijal, also put his views on bringing reforms in urban environmental sustainability.
Gokarna Mani Duwadee, Joint Secretary; Dr Jeet Sapkota, Assistant Professor at Tsukuba University; Dr Jhabindra Ghimire, Chief Engineer, Commonwealth Engineers Co. Ltd, Tokyo; Dr Bhuwneshwar Sah, Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo and Senior Consultant PASCO Corporation; Laxmi Paudel, Under Secretary; and Ganesh Kumar Jimee, Director, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response Division, NSET, Nepal, among others, also put their views in the program.
