Chief specialist doctor at the Animal Feed Division Khumaltar Megh Raj Tiwari has been arrested on charge of threatening to fail a student at the college where he teaches for refusing to have sex.
Tiwari, 55, was arrested by a team of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division last week and is being tried under the cyber crime law as he used social networking sites to issue the threats. Chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh told Setopati that the police got Tiwari’s judicial custody extended by the Kathmandu District Court.
Tiwari teaches at Himalaya College of Agricultural Science and had been hitting on a 20-year-old BSc student for the past six months and sending lewd messages through Messenger service, according to the police.
“Tiwari apparently was making life miserable for the girl. It seems he proposed sex with daughter of his own friend. He had started to send vulgar messages rebuking her for refusing to have sex. The girl went to police after the situation became unbearable,” SSP Singh elaborated.
Police investigation has revealed that he had threatened to fail the student for refusing to have sex with him. SSP Singh claimed that Tiwari has been similarly harassing other female students.
