Over 2 dozen human rights activists protesting outside Baluwatar detained

Police detained more than two dozen human rights activists for protesting in front of the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar on Monday. The police detained the human rights activists who reached Baluwatar to protest against the government over the handling of Nirmala Panta rape and murder case. The protest program was organized by Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES) coinciding with the 70th International Human Rights Day being observed today. Over two dozen human rights activists including President of HURPES Krishna Pahadi were detained after the the protesters breached the prohibited zone. All the arrestees were taken to the Metropolitan Police Circle Kamalpokhari. The demonstrators voiced out against the government for its failure to arrest the murderers of the 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur.
