Some 200 government employees of Humla who had been at their home to celebrate the Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals have been left stranded in Nepalgunj and Surkhet en route to their office due to lack of airplane flights.
According to Chief Election Officer Anil Kumar Sharma, employees on leave during festivals were hurried to join their office in view of the nearing elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies but unluckily get stuck in Surkhet and Nepalgunj for not being able to get air travel tickets. At this backdrop, the District Election Office cannot send names of employees to be deputed in the elections to the center.
Chief District Officer Laxmi Prasad Banskota said employees have got stranded on the way to office due to lack of regular air flights to the district.
The District Coordination Secretary Lok Bahadur Sunar who just landed in the district today shared his experience that he had to wait for seven days waiting for a ticket to fly to the district from Nepalgunj.
Tara, Sita and Nepal Airlines operate flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Humla, but their services are not regular.
