A rabies-infected dog has gone on a rampage at Kalinchowk rural municipality-1 in the district, leaving the locals terror-stricken. So much so that eight locals have been injured in a dog bite. The dog domesticated by local resident Pahal Bahadur BK, which had disappeared for the past few days, reappeared again on Wednesday, and started running amok biting the locals, said a local Padam Thami.
Preparations were underway to bring the injured to the district headquarters for treatment, while the locals have captured the dog, he said. The injured were referred from a local health post for want of anti-rabies vaccines.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Karki said he has been informed of the incident, and the injured would be taken to the district headquarters for treatment in coordination with local authorities.
A campaign would be launched soon to kill rabies-infected dogs, he said. Earlier some months ago, four people were bitten by a rabies-infected dog.
