The 15th Handicraft Trade Fair and the 13th Craft Competition is set to take place in the capital from November 17 to 21 this year.
Organizing a press conference here Thursday, the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) shared the five-day event was going to be held at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall with an objective to promote Nepali handicraft products both at home and abroad.
FHAN President Dharma Raj Shakya said that the Trade Fair was going to be organized in association with the Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC).
Shakya added, "We aim to spread knowledge about Nepali art and crafts abroad."
More than 50 Nepali handicraft products are being exported to a total of 80 countries abroad including the USA, the UK, European countries, France, Netherlands, Japan, India and China among others, it was shared.
The annual transaction of handicraft products is recorded at over Rs 10 billion in the country while this sector has contributed for job creations for around 1.1 million people, according to FHAN.
There will be a total of 200 stalls with nine pavilions displaying woodcraft, metal craft, gold and silver jewelry, woolen products, pashmina, handmade paper, bamboo products, orthodox tea, among others.
Likewise, FHAN is also organizing the 13th Craft Competition during the event. It will award first, second and third winners of the competition with Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively, organizers said.
