The Dhanusha police have arrested four people, including two who were the candidates in the recently held local-level elections, for their involvement in activities banned by the law.
The Dhanusha District Police Office presented them before the media today.
Kalsiyadevi Mahara, 50, of Charnath Municipality-3, the independent candidate for the mayoral post in the local level election, was caught red-handed while supplying narcotic substances from Dholbaja of Sabaila Municipality-13. Mahara was arrested along with Devendra Mahara, 24, of Ganeshman Charnath Municipality-3 and Ramawatar Mahara, 43, of the same locality. Police confiscated 10 kg of marijuana, two mobile sets and SIM cards from them.
Sakur Miya, 57, of Dhanusha Municipality-8, the then ward chair candidate from the Nepali Congress, was caught in possession of illegal arms. According to Superintendent of Police, Chakra Bahadur Singh, a home-made pistol, three rounds of bullets for SLR (self-loading rifle), a Discover motorcycle (Ja 8 Pa 5096) were seized from Miya.
Anil Paswan, 20, of Sabaila Municipality-4 was also detained on the same charge.
