Natural gas gushing out of deep boring ignites fire in Sirutar (With Video)

The administration struggled to contain the fire that was ignited while doing deep boring for a drinking water tank in Sirutar of Suryavinayak Municiplaity 1 Tuesday morning.

Fire engines from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur were not able to douse the fire that started at around 10:30 in the morning. A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Polcie Force (APF), and the locals tried to douse the fire. It was finally doused around three hours later after two fire engines of Nepal Army joined in.

The fire had started when the equipment for drilling sent a pipe 180 feet beneath the surface at a place where an old water tank for the local community is situated. "Odorless natural gas is gushing out of the hole created while drilling," Ram Sharan Shrestha , a local, told Setopati.
