Call to announce public holiday for Jitiya celebrations
Parliamentarian Rukmani Chaudhary has demanded the government announce public holiday for Jitiya festival celebrations.
Noting that the Tharu community has been marking the Jitiya Parba as a national festival, she called on the government to declare a public holiday to enable the community to celebrate the festival.
Tharu community permanently residing in Kathmandu observed the festival Wednesday by exchanging goodwill among each others.
Tharu Women Society organized a cultural program at Nepal Academy on Wednesday to celebrate the festival.
On the occasion, Minister for Labor and Employment Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary stressed the need to promote the festival that has been marked by the indigenous Tharu community since time immemorial at national and international level. RSS
Fire breaks out at Baitadi-based NEA Distribution Center
Fire broke out at Distribution Center of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Baitadi, on Saturday night. NEA Baitadi Chief Mohan Dev Joshi said that the fire broke out incoming feeder of 11KV transmission line. The incident took place due to electricity leakage.
