The local authorities on Thursday issued a prohibitory order in Dhankuta after protesters vandalized and torched various regional offices, division offices and other government offices.
Dhankuta denizens took to the streets early Thursday morning to protest the government's decision of declaring Biratnagar as the temporary capital of Province 1.
Chief District Officer Prem Prakash Upreti informed that the prohibitory order will be effective near the areas of government offices and market area.
"The protesters torched the regional administrative office in the morning. We've issued a prohibitory order after they started to vandalize some other offices," CDO Upetri said.
According to him, the demonstration was participated by the province MP as well.
"I talked with those taking part in the protest. I urged them not to make their protest violent but they responded that anything could happen," he said, "The situation has turned worst after the lawmakers who need to play a significant role to contain the situation, are taking part in the protest."
The Wednesday Cabinet meet fixed Biratnagar as the temporary capital of Province No. 1.
