Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has arrived here in Kathmandu on Monday.
Abbasi, who is arriving here for a two-day official visit, is the first foreign guest to get guard of honor at Tundikhel.
"A contingent of Nepali Army (NA) is scheduled to give him guard of honor at the Army Pavilion after five in the evening," Nepal Army (NA) Spokesperson Brigadier General Gokul Bhandari informed.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will also be present in the function.
The visiting dignitaries were earlier given guard of honor at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) immediately on landing. The counterpart of the host country has to be present during the guard of honor. This meant the president or PM had to go to the TIA to receive the visiting presidents/PMs. The government has taken the decision to provide guard of honor at the Army Pavilion to end the compulsion of president or PM having to go to the TIA to receive the guest.
Pakistani PM is set to meet PM Oli today itself. Oli will also host a banquet in honor of Abbasi in the evening.
Abbasi will return home on Tuesday.
