Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Krishna Bahadur Mahara has been sworn in on Sunday.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has administered oath of office and secrecy to Mahara amidst a program at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas in the morning.
A meeting of HoR on Saturday unanimously elected Mahara as speaker after no one filed nominations against him on Friday. Former speaker and CPN-UML leader Subash Chandra Nembang proposed Mahara for the post of speaker.
CPN (Maoist Center) leader and former deputy prime minister Maoist leader has headed information and communication, foreign, home and finance ministries in different governments in the past.
He was elected to the parliament in the first parliamentary election in 1991 after restoration of democracy in 1990 on a Sanyukta Janamorcha ticket.
